About Crossfit One World

  • How do you get started? Check out the links on the side bar entitled "What is Crossfit?" and "What is Fitness?" Next, come down to One World and watch a group session or participate in the always free Sunday morning workout session (no prior Crossfit experience necessary). You can experience first hand what a great time we have! After you have tasted a bit of the Koolaid, you will need to schedule your three introductory private training sessions. These sessions cover the fundamental movements you need to know to make your Crossfit training a much more enjoyable experience. (Private sessions may be scheduled as small groups also.) Upon completion of the private sessions, you may become a full fledged member or you may continue your training via private sessions. Contact freddy c. (510-209-8990) to schedule your private sessions or for more information.

GIRLS GONE BAD

Dsc06058
The saucy ladies of 4pm came in on a rest day and all did "Fight Gone Bad." From left to right: Britny, Tia, Mary, Sandra, Nina, Maria, and Silvia (aka Ass Crack). Ass Crack???? I leave it to you all to ask her about that story. Another chapter in "As The One World Turns."

The Daily Article Link will return tomorrow!

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

The first event of the 2008 Crossfit One World WOD Challenge! There is a $150 cash prize for the top female and the top male competitors. Non-members must pay a $25 entry fee. You must complete the workout during a scheduled training session. You may not attempt the same workout twice. Your first effort is the only one that counts. For you folks that are in contention for the top spot, your trainer reserves the right to make you repeat a rep if it is bullshit. 30 points awarded to the top competitor in each event. second place is 29, third is 28, and so on. Top score after the three events wins the prize.

I can't wait to see the progress some of you have made since we ran the mock version of this challenge.

WOD   5/14/2008 (Compare to WOD 1/31/2008)

"Helen"

Complete three rounds for time of:

  • Run 400m
  • 21 kettlebell swings  (M:53#/W:35#)
  • 12 pull-ups

Check out OPT doing a 6:59 "Helen." This is one of my favorite Crossfit videos. Every time I see this video I want to work out. OPT is the man.

Comments

This video is inspirational as hell. I wanna run down to the box and blast through Helen right now!

I really tried to rest a little today. The next 5 days for me should pretty gnarly with the next 3 days being the One World Challenge, then the cert this weekend which should include Fran AND Fight Gone Bad.

See everyone there. I'm coming with an empty stomach to fit as much Kool-aid in as possible.

Freddy,
Just watched the mainpage vid. Man it's made me hungry to come!!!!
I think the comp will be very tight this time around, but i think you're gonna see people come out that are unheard of.
P.s. Guys, Might have to parttake in some of the oneworld games..
My first and last Helen was 9:18 close to two months ago. I'll try and sneak this one in tomorrow night.
Best of luck everyone!
Kam

12:18 - rx'd (PR +32 seconds)

Freddy,

You weren't the only one to hit a new PR last night. I #165 with my clean and jerk last night, #13 over my last PR; I think the key was we both had a beer during our workouts. The hell with Rockstar give me a Sierra Neveda!

Just got my copy of Starting Strength by Mark Rippletoe and Lon Kilgore, I have only briefly looked at it, but VERY informative. If you want to improve on your press, deadlift, bench press and/or clean then this is the book for you. Because let's face it, we're doing it wrong and this book can help you get it right.

By the way, my wife looks smokin' hot in that picture!!

And sorry for being a form Nazi.

Kam, are you saying that you'll be able to make it to the games? Love to finally put a face to the p[osts if you are bud.

"Helen" 9:46 as Rx for boys...so tired...

Aww... Jason, that was so cute! Tia is always hot!

Just signed up for the games. Who's going or competing?

Chris, I'm signing up this week. Nice to know I officially have company. Didn't know who was for certain. Looking forward to the "OneWorld Trailer", the place to be for the games!

"Helen" time = 9:38 rx'd @ the 06:30 class.

yeh baby, love the ass crack!!!

10:24 Rx'd

Missed my PR by only 90 seconds. What happened?

Hey Freddy, or anyone,
where can I find that version of "Simple Man" that's on the OPT Helen workout? Does anyone know?

PR: 14:37 (first time "do'n" Helen...not sure I like that girl)!

As a former military parachuter who trained in the 101+degree heat of Ft. Benning, Georgia in the middle of the southern summer months, I am very proud of all of you for coming in during the afternoon hours (hotest time of the day in this heat wave we now call the start of summer) to rip through Helen. I saw a lot of questions in today's posting about slower WOD times and I have to chime in, from experience, the hot weather saps your strength more than YOU are willing to admit.

What you are doing, all you studs and studettes, is to be commended. You all are rip roaring athletes in my book!

Will,
About 3 months ago, I decided that I wasn't in form to be a top ten competitor so I thought I'd wait until next year. I've only been seriously crossfitting for about 9 months and playing with it for a year. I think due to age, and time I can spend on working on my training due to work, I need another 12 months to be a 'force' in the games.. I wish you guys the best of luck though..And I am going to try and get some footage of me doing Helen on the next rest day at my gym!
Great times by the way guys..
- Kam

Kam,
totally understand bud. Looking forward to meeting you one day.

Mary,
thanks for the advice. I have to admit, I was a bit bent out of shape over that time. I know we all have our days, but what are you going to do, right? I'm over it, and ready to do my best with the 5k tomorrow.

I have a question. I know that the modifications were not posted on the board after the times. I asked how it was ranked if you didn't Rx. Chong told me that if you don't Rx, it's just basically based on time. I don't remember it being like that last time... in fact I'm pretty confident that that wasn't the case for Grace at least. Because I'm a competitive brat, I feel that I should've just used a 15# kb and did jumping pull-ups just so I could have a better time because I can't do the pullups Rx'd.

I know I know, suck it up and learn how to kip already...

Mia,
I get what you're saying, but I think you'd get bored doing Helen with a 7 kg KB... You'd have a smoking hot time though!

Mia-
