HOW TO GET YOURSELF KICKED OUT OF A CROSSFIT GYM
Are you kidding me?!?!?!?
The Daily Article Link....click here: A squeky hip might be a cool party trick.
Don't forget: This Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday is the One World WOD Challenge. Three WOD's in three days. Top prize is $150 for both men and women. The schedule is: Wednesday- "Helen", Thursday- 5k run, and Friday- "Grace." Each WOD must be completed during a regularly scheduled class.
WOD 5/12/2008
Complete 5 one minute rounds of squat jump with a 45# barbell (this is the rx'd weight for both men and women, racked on shoulders behind the neck). Rest 2 minutes between efforts. Your score is the total amount of squats performed throughout the entire five rounds. Your squat should be below parallel and your jump should be a few inches
The barbell jump squat looks a little like this video, but I want you to squat deeper and just barely jump off the ground

Sacrilege.

I am a newcomer to the crossfit mindset but have several friends who attend one world. People who attack settled beliefs or institutions are called iconoclasts. This is exactly what you do with your WOD and the lifestyle crossfit promotes.
I've never done squat jumps before and loved the quad pump it gave me. Wow!
My five set count was 146. Body weight 215, age 46.

Do Death by burpees!

Squat jumps total = 149 & 1/2 (I got down into the squat position by my legs were fried and I didn't get my jump in before Jolie said "time") rx'd. 6am class.

My bad. I meant "but" my legs were fried not "by".

Steve,
I don't think that crossfitters are iconoclasts as such.
We're not looking at destroying the institution of fitness, rather crossfit is looking at fitness from a different aspect.
Which is essentially - fitness achieved through intensity (in a nutshell).
The General Grain of Fitness and lifestyle which is promoted through institutions (e.g. the food pyramid (based on grains rolling up to fats and oils) is there as a rule of thumb for the massess.
I think a better category for crossfiters would be - nutters.

Okay so it tells you something about Crossfit when this was my mindset last week. I was so sick that I could barely breath and was continuously looking for tissues. In no way could I have come to Crossfit, so I had to drag myself into that gym with the number 24 in the title to do a "light" workout.
But I am glad to be back to hard work. 30 muscle ups for time rx'd at 3:37....NEW PERSONAL RECORD!!!

steve, if you were only feeling your squat jumps in your quads, you might need to focus on driving your jump through your heals in order to engage your posterior chain (hamstrings and glutes)... nice to see your post and keep it up.

167 or 168 as Rx.
I still can't jump rope.
And I can't feel my legs Charlie Murphy!

Barbell Jump Squats PR: 89 as RX (I tried to go deep with the squat and good form...this is a killer leg workout). I need to make time to buy a journal so I can keep track of all these WOD's.
