I'd like to thank everyone who came out and supported One World. You rock!!! I posted a few pictures. Sorry I didn't get a picture of Jessielyn, Lil Joe, and Cristelle.....
Plus, I gotta give some props to my sponsors at ProAnox: Last year, I couldn't even drive home from the NorCal 40. I was wrecked. It actually jacked my training up for a few weeks. This year, I prepared better and I've been popping those magic ProAnox Extreme pills for a few months. I feel great! Taking tomorrow off from training, but right back into the mix on Tuesday.
My day:
I finished in 8th place. Funny how the one workout I thought would knock me out of the competition turned out not to be as bad as I thought......
I started with the floater max reps rope climbs in four minutes at 8:15 am. I finished with 12 climbs. This put me in a tie for second place. (The four floater workouts were combined at a 25% value to equal one score for all four workouts.)
At 9:00 am, I did the 1.1 mile run with a 20# vest. I sucked..... 38th place. 38th came back to haunt me later.
At 9:20 am, I did the floater max effort bench press in four minutes. I hit 340# for a first place finish.
At 11:15 am, I did the 30 squat snatches @ 125# for time. I was dreading this workout. My squat snatch is so fucking ugly. I was hoping to finish 25 reps in the allotted ten minutes. I ended up finishing all 30 in 9:29 for an 11th place finish. I was pretty stoked!!!
At 11:45 am, I did the floater 250m row x 3 workout. I pulled some solid row times, but the fact of the matter is that all the guys who were over 6' killed this workout. Damn you tall people!!! I finished 21st.
At 1:00 pm, I did the floater burpee/wall jump workout. I finished 32 reps in 4 minutes. It was good enough for a 4th place tie.
My last workout was at 2:15 pm. The workout was as many rounds as possible in 7 minutes of 7 chest to bar pull-ups/10 40# dumbbell push presses/10 53# kettlebell swings. I finished 5 rounds + 3 KB swings for a first place finish.
The top five guys that reached the final TOTALLY deserved to be there. I was honored to compete against everyone at the event.
In the end, the run really killed me. How am I going to fix it? I'm not. What's the point? I'm trying to make the CrossFit Games. I need to be one of the top 20 45-49 year old competitors in the world. I'm pretty sure a 1.1 mile 20# weighted vest run is not going to come up in the Open Qualifier. More than likely, the Open is going to be more like the pull-up/push press/KB swing workout. I love the NorCal 40 because it is near the Open, and I get a chance to see where I am at with my training. I am right on track!
BTW- I CRUSHED SOME BEERS AFTER I GOT KNOCKED OUT OF THE EVENT!!!

Good work, especially on the beer, was that part of the WOD too? I would personally program more Belgian beers and Dogfish Head IPA into my Beer WODs.

Speaking of which, we should get together for a beer sometime, I just remembered that I like beer a lot and you seem to drink beer all the time, it's a match made in heaven!

Congrats Freddy! You deserve those beers! I don't blame you on the run. I hate running. I hope you make it into the qualifier.

Great job, Freddy! Some of those guys are not really that exciting to watch, but your intensity made it pretty exciting.
That was some big food last night afterwards. Anytime you guys are in my neck of the woods again, I'm down for more BBQ!
