The deadlift is such a monster lift. I can't lie, I hate it! It's hard work. I'd rather attempt to squat heavy than deadlift heavy. So weird right? If you think about it, a squat can really jack you up if you miss it, especially if you are a dummy and you don't have someone spotting you. A deadlift is the complete opposite. If you load a bar up with more than you are capable of lifting AND you try to lift it while maintaining good deadlift technique, you won't get hurt. The weight simply won't go up. Regardless, for some reason I always find the deadlift very intimidating.
A nice deadlift:
The back is protected. In the morning he is not going to have any trouble washing his feet in the shower......
These guys on the other hand.....
It's a half deadlift full deadlift PR! For a second there, I thought the guy in front was going to try and spot him. That would have been AWKWARD! He didn't get hurt because you can't get hurt if you are wearing a bandana and jeans, but you are not wearing a shirt.I'm pretty sure this one was staged, but it turned out to be a good imitation of a bad deadlift.

hahaha, these people are all clowns, but roundback deadlifting is not necessarily an incorrect thing
one of the people who can very safely roundback deadlift is my brother
and one of the greatest deadlifters of all time does it too
this would be a useful read for anyone interested in it (http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/most_recent/a_strong_case_for_the_rounded_back_deadlift)
the vast majority are probably better off with an extended spine

Jahed, so very true....BUT....all people you mentioned, your brother included, have back muscles that are so developed you could beat them with a baseball bat. Most of us at One World are novice deadlifters. It's better for us to try and not round out our backs. Do you even lift???

Freddy the least you could do is use a picture of a guy who actually lifts pls.

I think the deadlift can be more intimidating because there is no real way to short change it. When going for a heavy squat, you could potentially shortchange the depth. Or with a heavy bench potentially get some assistance from your spotter. But with deadlifting you either get it off the ground and to the top or you don't.
