Also think that these kids will be goiing hard out on each lap and resting rather than arriving and turning straight away. It's flat out with rest incorporated rather than a steady swim for 50 mins.

This is a tough workout.

Greg would probably be faster if he was wearing Speedos!

Did you ever see this Greg Amundson video of doing a thruster/swim WOD?

What do you think Chyna?

The day they have swimming in the CF Games, would be the day I compete as it is the ONLY thing I can do well (F running and gymnastics LOL).

Loads of fun at the pool: http://library.crossfit.com/free/pdf/36_05_Swimming_CFStyle.pdf

Try A-3 and see if you can move the day after. ;-)

Finally, with swimming, the Crossfit Games would life threatening. I know how hard I breathe after some workouts. I couldn't imagine being in water and breathing that hard.

"Incorporating swimming into the crossfit games makes as much sense as putting tennis or golf in the games."
Huh?? Swimming is a functional movement and if you are in deep water you better swim or you drown. Tennis and golf are sports and activities. Sorry but that was an odd statement.

Swimming 2.1 miles in a pool in 50 minutes is not a killer workout? Let's see YOUR video of YOU doing it WITHOUT breathing heavy. Your ignorant statement does nothing but disrespect those athletes that put in hard work and effort, day in and day out, while you talk trash behind your keyboard. Typical.

Considering the WORLD RECORD for said Ironman swim is approximately 45 minutes, with the majority of competitive athletes in the 50-something minute range, I'd say 2.1 miles in 50 minutes is pretty damn impressive.

swimming 2.1 miles in a pool in 50 minutes is not a killer workout. It's not uncommon for someone to swim from aquatic park around alcatraz and back to aquatic park in under an hour, about 2.7 miles. In Ironaman, many people swim 2.4 miles open water in under an hour.

Incorporating swimming into the crossfit games makes as much sense as putting tennis or golf in the games.

I think they should definitely put some swimming in a WOD (with KB swings or thrusters or burpees). That WOD would separate many even among the elite CrossFitters...kind of like the first WOD of the Games this year. Not only that..I find that regular endurance and stanima (via running or whatever) is rarely transferrable to swimming. Get those people in a pool and they will be hating life real quick. As for the cold water..I did water polo in high school one year and that pool was frickin' freezing..but after the intial above the head 25 laps we did to warm up...I was sweating.
Go Chyna!! Totally rooting for you this year again!

FUNNY EVERYONE THINKS THE POOL IS SO COLD. THE DAMN THING IS 84 DEGREES. THE SWIMMERS ARE IN A LAP OF LUXURY, AND THE COACHES ARE STANDING IN 46 DEGREE AIR FREEZING THEIR ASSES OFF HAHA. I WANT TO SWIM IN THAT POOL TOO!

PPLLLEEEAAASSSEEEE PUT SWIMMING IN THE CF GAMES LOL. I HAVE TO LEARN ALL THIS DAMN GYMNASTICS STUFF, AND RUNNING, AND LIFTING ... THROW IN SOMETHING I KINDA ALREADY KNOW HOW TO DO LOL.

I swam on a swim team for 6 years, some of the coldest, hardest, funnest....what the f**k am I doing to my body years of my life!

Ice Swimming.. No wonder Chyna is such a studette..

I want to swim in that pool.

I swim as well as I run -badly!! And that water looks really, really cold!! Chyna would totally own that if it was part of the games!!

Prepared for anything right? I think swimming should totally be in! Go Chyna!
