Way more stability when lifting the load. Try both when you get toward your max effort and tell me what you think...

what is the significance of not using a close grip?

I said I always lift traditional. They told me to lift sumo for the weekend. They did rationalize that the range of motion is shorter. Most lifters there do sumo, but there was adamant reason as to why one over the other. I've been diggin the sumo lately because it makes me sore in places I had no idea exist. My max sumo is about 25# less than my max conventional. The other night I had one of our trainers do sumo for the first time and he hit his conventional one rep max for three reps. Go figure....

After just getting back from the PL cert at West Side what was explained with regards to Sumo DL vs. Conventional, and in your experience which do u prefer especially when mixing in regular O lifts. Sorry a lot of question.
