Freddy, Its not that hard to make, but the quality of the Ahi is definitely a big part. The cut of the ahi isn't as important as the Freshness. I made it once using the scrap parts of a 40# ahi I bought off a friend, I used mostly the stringy parts , but also had some of the stuff that didn't pull out with the main blocks. But it still came out damn good. There are tons of recipes online. The hard part might be getting the other ingredients that are common in Hawaii but harder to find in the mainland. Although I must say it never tasted as good as when someone else make it for you :)

Apparently Chyna + poke = PR

O-lifting tomorrow!!!

We're O-lifting at 10 a.m. Who's in?

Also, if you had homework, I hope you've done it already. If not, today would be a good day to get it done.

@Rob: How can you forget a name like "Tasty Crust"? Haha. :) Kind of ambiguous, mysterious...

@Freddy and Chyna: Do you know anyone who can shave my head? I would love a new hairstyle -- I want to be taken seriously in the CF world and I think my longer hair is keeping me from hitting PRs that require speed and explosion. Any referrals would be great.

They had Poke @ Fremont Costco last week. I agree with J-Ro, it's better to make it yourself at home. I love Poke. The first time I had it was during my trip @ Haili's in Waikiki.

The only place I've seen that sells fresh poke by the pound is Bristol Farms in SF Centre. It's about $14/pound and there are three different varieties. It's pretty good, but not nearly as affordable as what you get in Hawai`i. You may be better off just making it yourself at home. Just make sure you get sushi grade tuna:)

Freddie, it's not poke but make sure you hit the place next to RFM (forgot the name) for amazing pancakes.

Freddy and Chyna...not positive, but check Mitsuwa in Saratoga (or off of Saratoga) from the 280. They might have it.

LORI, THAT POKE WAS AMMMAAAZZZIIINNNG!
MY COUSINS LIVE IN TORRANCE. WE ARE GOING TO GET POKE THERE WHEN WE GO NOW!!! YAY!

Not sure how far you're willing to travel....Marukai Market in Torrence across from Del Amo Mall

They had poke last weekend at the Hayward Costco. I kinda wanted to buy it but I thought, Costco? Poke? questionable.. But I've actually heard good things.

Yep!!! Whole Foods Maui! haha! or my brother. And I will have him make some whenever you are here. Just let me know. Great having you both here. I can ask my brother who lives in LA if he knows where to find poke up there.

I've also seen it in the sushi stands at the supermarket... and in Japanese markets. :)

They have poke at Costco in Hawaii. Real good high quality stuff. For a few months in the summer of last year, Costco Mountain View had poke. Same recipe as the Hawaii Costcos. Real good!
Easy to make coach!
